Labels And Custom Fields

šŸ„³ The new feature we've been working on is now live, and we're excited to introduce you to Labels And Custom Fields.

Labels & Custom Fields are powerful features in a test management system that allow users to categorize and organize their testing data.

Labels are keywords or phrases that can be applied to individual tests or test suites to provide an at-a-glance summary of the test's status, type, priority, or any other relevant information. Labels make it easy for users to filter and sort their tests to quickly find what they need.

Custom fields, on the other hand, are user-defined fields that can be added to a test case to capture specific information. For example, custom fields can be used to store information such as the tester's name, the expected result, the test environment, or the date the test was last run. Custom fields make it possible for users to tailor the test management system to their specific needs, and to store and retrieve data in a consistent and meaningful way.

Labels & Custom Fields can help users to streamline their testing process, increase the accuracy of their test data, and make it easier to find and analyze the information they need.

Create your own Custom fields with flexible patterns. Learn how it works here.

Multiselection With Quick Actions

Multi-selection allows you to select more than one item at the same time. You can use it on tests and suites, runs, plans, and steps. The quick actions of the Multiselection allow you to perform a number of tasks with a single click. This can be useful when you have multiple items that you want to select, or if you need to perform multiple tasks. The feature can be found under the "Multiselection" option in the top right corner of the screen.

Run Tests With Mulstiselection

Are you in a hurry and need to pick some tests and launch a Test Run immediately? No problem! You can do this now in a few clicks: enable multiselection mode, pick tests, click Run, confirm with Launch button and there you are. Testomat.io will generate and save the Test Run so you can continue testing or return to it later.

Multiselection Mode For Manual Testing

This is a very useful feature for manual testing. In the past, we used to select the tests manually one by one. Now, with multi-selection mode for manual testing, we can easily pick few tests and assign status during test execution. This saves time and effort of selecting the tests from a long list of tests. It is a very useful tool when you have a large set of manual tests and want to get them all done as quickly as possible.

Improved Tests Reordering By Drag & Drop

We had rewritten drag and drop to easily organize and sort test cases and suites. We ended up with a very simple framework that implemented the basic features:

  • Reorder tests, suites, and folders
  • Move them around for re-ordering (drag & drop)
  • Move them to different suites and folders

Sprints Coverage For JIRA

This plugin allows you to view the tests and automation statistics for your JIRA sprints. It allows:

  • View statistics per sprint: This will show you the testing data for each sprint in your JIRA project
  • Search multiple sprints: You can search multiple sprints by entering their IDs

Please re-install Testomatio plugin to access Sprints Coverage

More Data When Creating A Defect

Creating defects from Testomat.io to JIRA now passed a lot more data. Such as:

  • Optional JIRA fields
  • Defect description
  • Test case information
  • Test description
  • Stacktrace and failure
  • Failure attachments

Manager Role Enhancements

In the new version of Manager roles, managers can now do more. They can add users to projects, assign them to a manager, developer roles, or read-only. Also, we fixed adding read-only users by managers.

Users in the manager role can manage subscriptions now.

These enhancements are very useful for companies that have multiple employees with similar skills. It will help you to manage your team better, as well as increase productivity by helping you to assign specific users to projects.

Test Plans Refactoring

Test planning is an essential part of quality assurance. It helps the development team to identify, plan and execute the tests for a new feature or update.

With this release, we empowered the Test Plan feature with the ability to filter and add tests by tag, assignee, priority, labels and custom fields.

This makes it easier to plan your test cases in a more structured manner. We have also introduced the ability to filter tests by tags, priorities and labels using a dropdown menu. The new filtering feature makes it easier for you to find specific tests when you are working on a big project or are just trying to find a specific test that belongs to a certain group.

Tests Priorities UX Improvements

We've been working on improving the UX around priority settings. The result is a new look for all levels of priority, with a focus on making it easier to find the right setting for you.

  • You can filter your tests based on their priorities. Click Filter button, pick test priority you need and click Apply
  • Filter your tests based on their priorities during ongoing Test Run. To filter a test during an ongoing test run, use the filter icon next to tests counter.
  • Create a Test plan based on test priority by sorting test during creating a plan.

Improved TestRail Import

We increased TestRail import capabilities this time. Now Testomat.io saves suites and folders nesting, and imports more testing data including Test Priority, Preconditions, Steps, and Expected Result.
